About

Hello and thank you for your interest HebrewBibleScholar.com!

This site began as the dream of one poor graduate student. To be honest, a lot of this site still exists only in the dreams of one poor graduate student! Below you’ll find the scoop on this website.

Why was this site created?

Learning how to study the Hebrew Bible is not a quick or easy process. In addition to learning original languages, new students must begin to familiarize themselves with the tools and methods available for modern biblical scholarship.

In reality, it takes most scholars many years, sometimes even decades to become truly comfortable with all of the tools available to them. For students just beginning, this steep learning curve can be very intimidating.

This website is intended to be a resource for all people who want to improve their abilities to study the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew. It provides information on resources that are necessary and/or helpful for biblical studies.

On a more personal level, this site was created as a way for me to share some of the knowledge that I have gained through many years study with those who can benefit from this information.

A few more details about the site

As this website is still a work in progress, there are a few disclaimers that must be made.

  1. Although I have 6+ years of graduate work in Hebrew Bible, no one is perfect. So if you see a mistake on this site, please use this form to contact me. I will fix the error as soon as I can.
  2. As a graduate student, I often work in spurts. This means that I can go a long time without updating the site and then create 10 new posts in a week. That’s just the way this site is.
  3. At present, I prefer to remain anonymous. This is because young scholars that are still in doctoral programs or without tenure are often judged very harshly by hiring committees for their websites. Hopefully, this will change in the future.
